How we write
Editorial policy
Updated October 2026
Our guides and calculators exist to help power only carriers make better decisions. They also promote our dispatch service, and we say so. This page explains how we keep them accurate.
Who writes
Guides are written and reviewed by the PowerOnlyDispatch Dispatch Desk, the team that dispatches power only trucks. We don't invent authors. When a named dispatcher or the owner writes or reviews a guide, their real name and background will appear on it.
Official sources first
- Regulations are cited to the Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR), FMCSA, IRS or the relevant state agency, and checked against the current official page.
- Company and program facts come only from each company's own pages, with the date we checked them. We don't imply partnerships we don't have.
- Market numbers (rates, fuel prices, operating costs) name their source and period, such as EIA weekly diesel prices, DAT monthly rate releases or ATRI's operational cost study.
- When no public source exists, we use clearly labeled EXAMPLE numbers and say so. We never invent averages, rankings, reviews or testimonials.
Dates and updates
Every guide and tool shows an "Updated" month, and its Sources list shows when facts were checked. We review guides when rules or programs change and at least once a year.
Rankings and comparisons
We don't publish "best" rankings of brokers, programs or load boards without stating the criteria. Where readers ask which is best, we give the criteria to judge by.
Not advice
Guides that touch law, tax, insurance or finance are general information, not advice. Check the cited source and your own advisor before acting.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us. We check it against the official source, fix it, and update the date on the page.
